Profile: Gary J Merrington MA
Established in November 2000, Merrington Design has helped transform the Industrial design of a variety of companies. As an Industrial designer Gary J Merrington has worked with clients’ design and development teams in Hong Kong, China, Canada, USA, Europe and Denmark. I am also part of the design team at industry renowned Modelmakers Synapse-point7.
I am a 3DCAD Solid Works Certified user, training with Solid solutions management, covering Essentials and Advanced Surface Modelling. Other software used extensively over the last 15 years include: IronCAD 3D Solid & Surface, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Draw.
I have lived and worked in Toronto, Canada with The Lenbrook Group as an Industrial designerfor NAD Electronics International. Prior to that I was principal Industrial Designer for NAD Electronics in London.
I received my Masters Degree in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London. My Masters research project 'The Same But Different' explored the creation of product differentiation in established product generics, I created principals & methods used to express brand values through product & Industrial Design.
I am a part time lecturer at West Herts College teaching PhotoShop and Illustrator. I have served on the judging panel of the UCA creative challenge competition.
I have over 15 years industry experience and a passion for new ideas. I live in Hertfordshire with my Wife and three Children. I am a member of British Design Innovation.
